Hi, my name is Ruth Koop.  I’m a maker, artist, and costume designer. I live in Caronport, Saskatchewan with my husband, Edward, and have my creative studio: Agnes & Maude.

I love to work with all types of fabric. As a seamstress, I do custom sewing, costume design and creation, quilting, and home decor items.

How’d I come up with the name of my boutique? 

Agnes and Maude are my grandmothers. They started investing in me by teaching me to sew, quilt, knit, and crochet when I was just 5 years old. Thank you to my Mom for letting me use her sewing machine to sew doll clothes. By the time I was 11, I was using that sewing machine to make clothing for my youngest sister. 

I have been sewing custom clothing for over 50 years… which is quite a while when I stop to think of it. The sewing machine and my designs are an extension of my imagination. Sewing connects me with generations of strong, creative women in my family… and I am proud to continue their legacy through my work.
